Introduction
Hey Look, Another One of Those Stupid Profiles
- Name: Mimi Tachkiawa (太刀川 ミミ) with Mimi written in katakana probably to distinguish her name from the Japanese word mimi (耳) or “ear” because that would be dumb to name your kid after a body part. Although it isn’t discussed why she was given a name with essentially no Japanese meaning, from her cowboy hat, Southwestern-inspired clothes, and name being written in a style reserved for words of non-Japanese origin, my guess is it was perhaps to make her sound foreign…or something?
- Age: Too young for you.
- Actual Age: 10-11 (4th grade elementary school) in Season 1, 12-13 (1st year junior high school) in Season 2, and 15-16 (1st year high school), and around 30 in that horrible epilogue everyone refuses to acknowledge (We didn’t even know she liked cooking).
- What you expected her to like, and does: Cute things and the color pink.
- What you didn’t expect her to like, and actually does: Natto, or fermented soybeans, which smells like a hot dumpster full of sulfuric acid, but is somehow healthy for you anyway. (After several years of conditioning, yours truly actually enjoys natto as well)
- Birthday: No actual birthday available, but I’d peg her as a Leo.
- Blood Type: Again, nothing official, but I am most definitely, 5000% sure she is Type B.
- Digimon Partner/Best Friend Forever: Palomon, whose name is inspired by a palm tree yet is designed after a mandrake (yes, that ugly, humanoid mythical creature).

Character Summary
Mimi is one of the very few girls part of the original Chosen Children (Or “Digidested” per the North American localization). She is one of the younger members, being the same age as Koushirou. Mimi actively takes part in being as feminine as possible with her stylish clothes and being an oshare-san (a person with an impeccable sense of fashion). Presumably through her father’s job, Mimi lives a relatively cushioned life having grown up with the perfect and complete nuclear family. Though one may assume that she is spoiled, on the inside, Mimi is actually quite sweet and sensitive of her friends’ feelings. She is not afraid to stick up for her friends and cheer them up when they are down. She is also willing to do anything for the sake of her friends and the Digimon, regardless of social repercussions. Mimi often trusts her heart and her actions are always well-intentioned.
Her cute partner, Palmon, who is supposed to keep Mimi on her toes, is somehow not the most intelligent at times, but is a generally cool little gal who is always up for Mimi’s schemes and ploys to bust in on the men’s onsen, as long as it’s for good reason. She is incredibly patient with Mimi the vast majority of the time but never hesitates to call her out if she begins to steer in the wrong direction.
Mimi's role spans several seasons and movies. She makes her first appearance in the well-known Digimon Adventure, which debuted in the late 1990's. Three years after the events of the first season, she makes camero appearances in Digimon Adventure 02 as a middle schooler, serving as a mentor to the new Chosen Children, particularly Miyako (or Yolei in the English dub). During this time period, Mimi had already moved to the United States due to her father's work. In 2015, Toei animation created a six-part film series called Digimon Adventure tri., which focuses on the original eight Chosen Children three years after 02. Mimi, now in her first year of high school (or the American 10th grade), returns back to Japan to go on more crazy adventures with her friends.
